What is considered an incident?

An incident is any illness or accident that results in veterinary care for your pet.

What does my policy cover?

For your low monthly premium, Bivvy will help protect your pet against:

  • Illnesses
  • Blood Tests
  • Accidents
  • Surgery
  • Hereditary Conditions
  • Hospitalization
  • Congenital Conditions
  • Prescription Medications
  • Chronic Conditions
  • Emergency Care
  • Cancer
  • X-rays and Ultrasounds
  • Diagnostic Treatment
  • Orthodontic Treatment

Please see our sample policy for a complete list of inclusions.

What is not included in Bivvy’s coverage?

We have nothing to hide. We want you to know what is and isn’t covered by our policy after the waiting period. Bivvy has a 14-day waiting period for accidents and illnesses and a 12-month waiting period for dogs' orthopedic conditions. For Georgia residents the orthoepdic condition waiting period for dogs is 180-days.

  • Pre-Existing Conditions
  • Preventative or Routine Care
  • Vaccines
  • Spay/Neuter Procedures
  • Cosmetic Surgery
  • Grooming
  • Boarding Your Pet
  • Air Ambulances and Non-Emergency Ground Ambulances
  • Cloning or Utilizing Cloned Animals in Treatment

Please see our sample policy for a complete list and description of what Bivvy covers.

Why are pre-existing conditions excluded?

As with all pet insurance policies, we exclude pre-existing conditions. This means a condition that first occurred or showed clinical signs before your pet's coverage started or before the end of the applicable waiting period.

When does my coverage go into effect?

Bivvy has a 14-day waiting period for accidents and illnesses. Orthopedic conditions have a 12-month waiting period for dogs. Georgia residents have a 180-day waiting period for their dog's orthopedic conditions. We have waiting periods to protect all our customers from fraudulent claims. Some people try to have pet insurance pay for an already sick or injured pet and that wouldn’t be fair.

What's the difference between coinsurance and reimbursements?

These terms can be confusing. Coinsurance, sometimes called a copay, is the amount you pay and the reimbursement is the amount that Bivvy pays. For example, if you have coinsurance of 25% and a covered bill of $400, you'd pay $100 in coinsurance (25% of $400) and Bivvy would reimburse you for the remaining $300.

What are the annual, incident and lifetime limits?.

The annual limit is the maximum amount Bivvy will pay each policy year. This limit ranges based on your selected plan and resets each year. Depending on which plan you choose, there may be an incident limit of $1,000. The incident limit is the maximum amount Bivvy will pay for the same accident or injury. Bivvy also has a lifetime limit of $25,000 which is the maximum amount Bivvy will pay over the life of your pet.

What is a deductible?

Sometimes insurance policies include a deductible, which is a specific amount of money policyholders have agreed to pay themselves (“out-of-pocket”) before their insurance protection kicks in. Typically, policies with high deductibles (out-of-pocket costs) have lower premiums (monthly costs).

Where can I find a copy of my policy?

You can access an electronic copy of your policy at any time by logging into your account. You may also email us at [email protected] to obtain a copy.

Will my pet’s coverage drop at a certain age?

No, your pet’s coverage is not dependent on age.

How do I renew my policy?

We’re happy to see you’re considering renewing your policy! Your policy will renew automatically each year.

How do I cancel my policy?

We’d be sad to see you go! But to cancel your policy you can log in to your account and select ‘cancel’.
