As with all pet insurance policies, we exclude pre-existing conditions. This means a condition that first occurred or showed clinical signs before your pet's coverage started or before the end of the applicable waiting period.
Bivvy has a 14-day waiting period for accidents and illnesses. Orthopedic conditions have a 12-month waiting period for dogs. Georgia residents have a 180-day waiting period for their dog's orthopedic conditions. We have waiting periods to protect all our customers from fraudulent claims. Some people try to have pet insurance pay for an already sick or injured pet and that wouldn’t be fair.
These terms can be confusing. Coinsurance, sometimes called a copay, is the amount you pay and the reimbursement is the amount that Bivvy pays. For example, if you have coinsurance of 25% and a covered bill of $400, you'd pay $100 in coinsurance (25% of $400) and Bivvy would reimburse you for the remaining $300.
The annual limit is the maximum amount Bivvy will pay each calendar year. This limit ranges on your selected plan and resets each year. Depending on the plan you choose, there may be an incident limit of $1,000. Bivvy also has a lifetime limit of $25,000 which is the maximum amount Bivvy will pay over the life of your pet.
Sometimes insurance policies include a deductible, which is a specific amount of money policyholders have agreed to pay themselves (“out-of-pocket”) before their insurance protection kicks in. Typically, policies with high deductibles (out-of-pocket costs) have lower premiums (monthly costs).
