As the first of its kind in the insurance industry, Bivvy offers affordable coverage while eliminating the complicated schedule of benefits offered by many insurance companies. For $15 a month, we will cover expenses up to $2,000 per year, with coinsurance of 50% and a $100 deductible per approved claim. See the Coverage FAQs for additional coverage information.
You can cover one pet per policy. Have multiple pets? You can buy a policy for each of your cats and dogs.
When signing up your first pet, simply click on the “Add Another Pet” button to add a second furry friend. Follow the prompts and fill in your second pet’s information. Repeat these steps for each furry friend you’d like to cover.
If you already have a policy and want to add another pet at a later time, simply log in to your pet parent portal and select the “Add New Pet” button for each additional dog or cat you’d like to protect. You’ll be able to access all of your pets’ policies from your original pet parent portal.
Not a problem. For dogs, simply select our mixed breed option for the corresponding weight of your dog. Bivvy covers all dog breeds.

It's nice you want to gift pet insurance to a friend or family member! While you can pay for another pet parent's Bivvy insurance, there are a few important points to keep in mind. First, the pet parent must be listed on the policy as the policyholder. Your name and billing address can be associated with the payment method on file, but the pet parent's information must be listed in all other areas of the sign-up process. With this in mind, please use the pet parent's email address, street address, zip code and phone number when signing up their furry friend for coverage. Note, the pet parent must live in a state where we are available for sale. If you have any questions about gifting insurance to another pet parent, send us an email at [email protected]!
To ensure your pet's coverage won't cancel due to a missed payment, you can add a backup payment method within your pet parent account! Should your primary payment method fail, we'll continue to try to make your payment with your backup payment method. It's easy to add and you'll have greater peace-of-mind knowing your payment will be made.
For only $15 per month, Bivvy will help protect your pet against:

✓ Cancer ✓ X-rays and Ultrasounds
✓ Diagnostic Treatment ✓ Orthodontic Treatment
Please see our sample policy for a complete list of inclusions. For your pet’s preventative and routine vet expenses, you can add Bivvy Wellness Care! Learn more about Wellness Care in its dedicated FAQ section.
We have nothing to hide. We want you to know what is and isn’t covered by our policy after the waiting period.
Bivvy has a 14-day waiting period for accidents, a 30-day waiting period for illnesses and a 180-day waiting period for dogs' orthopedic conditions unless the orthopedic injury is a direct result of trauma.
Please see our sample policy for a complete list and description of what Bivvy covers. Remember, you can add Bivvy Wellness Care to cover your pet’s preventative and routine vet costs whereas your Bivvy insurance policy covers the unexpected. Learn more about Bivvy Wellness Care in its dedicated FAQ section.
As with all pet insurance policies, we exclude pre-existing conditions. This means a condition that first occurred or showed clinical signs before your pet's coverage started or before the end of the applicable waiting period. Unlike other insurers, temporary conditions that started prior to the end of the waiting period that have not shown any clinical signs for 12 consecutive months are not considered pre-existing conditions.
Bivvy has a 14-day waiting period for accidents and a 30-day waiting period for illnesses. For dogs, orthopedic conditions have a 180-day waiting period unless the orthopedic injury is a direct result of trauma, such as a car accident. Waiting periods begin on the effective date of the policy, which is the day you sign up for coverage. During the waiting periods, coverage is not in effect. For example, if your pet experiences an accident during the 14-day waiting period, treatment relating to that accident would not be covered.
We have waiting periods to protect all our customers from fraudulent claims. Some people try to have pet insurance pay for an already sick or injured pet and that wouldn’t be fair.
These terms can be confusing. Coinsurance, sometimes called a copay, is the amount you pay and the reimbursement is the amount that Bivvy pays. With Bivvy, your coinsurance is 50% and your reimbursement is 50%. That means, for example, if there is $500 of a covered bill still left after the deductible is applied, you'd pay $250 in coinsurance (50% of $500) and Bivvy will reimburse you for the remaining $250.
The annual limit is the maximum amount Bivvy will pay each policy year for covered expenses incurred during that policy year. This limit is $2,000 and resets each policy year. The policy year begins on the effective date, which is the day you first signed your pet up for coverage or your annual renewal date. The lifetime limit is the maximum amount Bivvy will pay over the life of your pet. This limit is $25,000.
This is the amount you pay per approved claim. After that, Bivvy pays the rest subject to any coinsurance requirement and annual or lifetime limits.
You can access an electronic copy of your policy at any time by logging into your account. You may also email us at [email protected] to obtain a copy.
We’re happy to see you’re considering renewing your policy! Your policy will renew automatically each year as long as the required premium is paid and we approve.
We’d be sad to see you go! To cancel your policy simply log in to your pet parent portal and click on the “Cancel Policy” button at the bottom of your dashboard. Have questions? Send us an email at [email protected]!
You won't receive an insurance card with your coverage because with Bivvy you can go to any licensed veterinarian! Bivvy is a reimbursement policy, meaning we will reimburse you directly for any covered vet expenses for your insured furry friends.
Absolutely! It's important for you to be able to take your pet to a trusted provider. You may go to any licensed veterinary practice, emergency hospital or specialist.
Bivvy doesn’t use a provider network where you can only take your pet to one of the network-approved vets. Instead, we want you to see the vet you’re most comfortable with or who is most convenient to you in an emergency.
Bivvy pays pet parents directly, not the vet. Once your pet gets the care they need, we ask that you send us a copy of the vet bill through your online pet parent portal or via email. Once we review your bill, we’ll send you a reimbursement check for any approved claims.
There is no need to ask your vet if they accept Bivvy coverage or show your vet an insurance card. In fact, Bivvy doesn’t even give insurance cards. Simply get a copy of your receipt and send it our way!
Should your pet have to make a trip to the vet, we'll hope they feel better soon. But rest assured, we've made submitting a claim quick and easy.
Submitting a claim can be done online by logging into your account. Once a claim is submitted we’ll start reviewing your claim information ASAP.
We pride ourselves on quick approvals! We begin reviewing claims within one business day of being filed. Once we have all requested documentation, a claim decision can be made within minutes.
No, however we will only cover expenses up to $2,000 per policy year. Once you hit this annual limit, we will no longer pay any benefit for the policy year.
Bivvy Wellness Care is a great choice for pet parents who would like coverage for routine and preventative expenses in addition to their pet insurance coverage. Bivvy Wellness Care can be added when purchasing a new Bivvy insurance policy and when a policy renews. Our Wellness Care is $9 a month and pays up to a specific annual limit based on the type of care.
As shared previously, there is an annual limit for each type of care. The dollar amount for each treatment shown above is the most Bivvy would reimburse for that treatment per policy year. For example, if your pet has two wellness exams in a policy year with each exam costing $50, Bivvy will reimburse you for no more than $40 of the $100 total cost.
When signing up your pet for insurance coverage, you’ll be prompted to add Wellness Care on Page 2 of the sign-up process.
If you’re already a Bivvy pet parent and want to add Wellness Care to your existing policy, you can do so within your pet parent account!
Yes! You can add Bivvy Wellness Care from your pet parent dashboard after signing up for the accident and illness insurance.
Wellness Care coverage doesn’t impact your insurance policy’s deductible, co-payments or annual limit.
Just like our Bivvy pet insurance coverage, Wellness Care reimburses pet parents directly for approved claims. You send us your vet bill through your Bivvy pet parent account, and we’ll send you a reimbursement for approved Wellness Care costs. We work hard to review claims and send reimbursements as soon as possible!
Wellness Care is pet-specific, just like our insurance policies! Each of your furry friends can have the Wellness Care option attached to their insurance policy during sign-up or when renewing their policy. Wellness Care benefit maximums will remain separate based on the care each pet receives over the course of their policy year.

At this time, you’re not able to sign up for Wellness Care without an insurance policy.
For sure! If your employer is a Bivvy partner, you can apply your employer code to both your Wellness Care and your policy premium for each furry friend you sign up.
Your $9 monthly Wellness Care premium will be charged using the payment method you select when signing up. You can change your payment method any time by logging into your Bivvy pet parent account.
